LGBT protesters employ giant Mike Pence figure

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — State lawmakers are looking to finish their work for the year by Thursday.

One thing that won’t be accomplished is new civil rights legislation sought by the LGBT community, and that led to an unusual protest at the Statehouse.

A giant Mike Pence figure appeared next to signs that said “Pence Must Go.”

The $2,000 figure is the creation of Kevin Warren. He calls it “Mikey” in a show of disrespect for the governor.

He’s the same guy who has been selling the “Pence Must Go” yard signs last year.

He explained his latest stunt from inside the “Mikey” suit.

“Them not passing a civil rights bill this session, it’s unacceptable,” he said. “You know, I think it was very clear from all of us when he gave the State of the State Address that he had no intentions of passing any civil rights laws, and we’re angry, we’re not going away.”

Warren and others are planning a similar, larger protest at the governor’s residence on Saturday. The governor’s office didn’t respond to our request for a reaction.
