New Hamilton County hospital will be ‘hospital of the future’

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Construction begins on a new hospital going up at a major intersection in Hamilton County.

Crews will break ground at an eight acre site in Westfield Tuesday. It’s at the intersection of U.S. 31 and State Road 32.

It’s being called the “hospital of the future.”

The Riverview Health Outpatient Care Center will be a 105,000 square-foot, six-story facility. The first two floors will house urgent care and surgical services as well as radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy. Riverview Health staff said there will also be physical and occupational therapy and rehab services. The goal is to design the exam rooms in a way so any medical practice can provide services in the spaces.

The developers want to make this medical facility feel more like a high-end hotel, with hospitality in mind, including a concierge-style registration desk, water features and a two-story fireplace.

The total cost is $34 million. Riverview Health hopes to have the project complete by Fall of 2017.
