Rain moving into area overnight

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — As we wrap up another beautiful day across central Indiana, we’re tracking our next rain chances which looks to take aim on the area overnight.

Highs today hit the 70s for everyone.  Indianapolis’ high of 73 degrees was seven degrees shy of tying the daily record, and is the warmest recorded temperature so far in 2016.

Large complex of showers and storms in the central Plains will continue to move northeast this evening. Clouds will increase across central Indiana through the mid-overnight hours.

Expect showers to arrive between 3 a.m. and  5 a.m. in Indianapolis. Scattered showers will continue through Wednesday afternoon, making for a wet morning commute for many.

Rainfall should be relatively light, but could be steady at times Wednesday morning.

More consistent rain, with potentially heavy downpours, will move into the area starting late Wednesday night through the entire day on Thursday.
