Supercookie costing Verizon $1.35 million, gas costing consumers

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Verizon will pay $1.35 million fine over its “Supercookie” that the government said followed phone customers on the internet without their permission.

For that kind of tracking, Verizon will have to get a clear yes from customers.

Verizon used the cookies to deliver targeted ads to cellphone customers.

Gas prices could skyrocket up to 50 more cents a gallon by Memorial Day, according to Triple A.

That could happen because refineries are beginning maintenance, oil prices are fluctuating and supplies are decreasing.

Because of spring travel, fuel supplies usually tighten.

Starbucks sausage, egg and cheese muffins are being recalled for listeria.

The company that makes the sandwiches said they found some may have been prepared in suspicious areas, exposing them to bacteria.

250 stores in Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma appear to have received the potentially tainted product.
