White Co. law enforcement investigating 2 stabbings
WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – White County law enforcement responded to two stabbings Sunday night, and now investigators are looking for answers.
Sunday around 8:45 p.m. the first call came in to White County 911 concerning a person that had been cut at Janet’s in Town Lounge in Monticello. When authorities arrived on scene, they found 24-year-old Jacob Cook of Monticello.
Cook was taken to IU White Memorial Hospital in Monticello with non-life-threatening injuries, where he was treated and later released.
Just after 9 p.m., law enforcement responded to a home in Monon regarding a stabbing. When authorities arrived, they found 28-year-old Mitchell Fontaine of Lafayette with serious injuries.
Fontaine was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. At this time, the Monticello Police Department said his condition is unknown.
No other injuries were reported.
No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing. The case has been forwarded onto the White County Prosecutor’s Office.
As of Monday at 4 p.m., Monticello police said they believe the two cases may now be connected.
