Matt Hasselbeck announces retirement, ESPN job

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – After 18 seasons Matt Hasselbeck has retired, but soon he will join ESPN for the NFL’s next season.

According to the Indianapolis Colts, Hasselbeck will join ESPN each Sunday this NFL season. He will appear on NFL Sunday Countdown and will travel to Monday Night Football locations for the 2016 season.

In February, there were reports that the Colts wouldn’t sign the 40-year-old free agent.  Hasselbeck said he was grateful to the team and the city.

Hasselbeck started eight games for the injured Luck this past season, winning the first four, but after suffering his own injuries, he lost three of the last four games he started.

ESPN will also feature Hasselbeck in various NFL appearances during the week.
