Motorsport journalist helped pave way for race coverage

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – A typewriter is on display at the Hall of Fame Museum at the Indianapolis Motor Sport and it belongs to Chris Economaki.

Economaki was the Dean of Motorsports Journalists and he paved the way for many covering auto racing. He also helped women get into covering the greatest spectacle in racing. He used to sneak passes to them so they could also cover the race.

In the press room at IMS there’s a plaque honoring Economaki’s work.
