Lafayette Task Force busts 5 more on drug-related charges

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Another major drug bust this week in Lafayette has landed five more people in jail.

Around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, acting on an anonymous tip, the Lafayette Police Street Crimes Unit along the Tippecanoe County’s Drug Task Force served a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Waterford Court.

Officers said they found almost 600 grams of marijuana, 45 grams of THC and 129 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. They also recovered more than $10,000.

Five people were arrested: Zackary Smith, 25, of Lafayette; Leigha Klepinger, 22, of Lafayette; Shane Scott, 25, of Lafayette; Tristan Marshall, 20, of Lafayette; Tre Dyson, 20, of Lafayette.

All five people were taken and booked into the Tippecanoe County Jail. They each face drug-related charges.

Smith has been preliminary charged with:

  • Dealing marijuana
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of a controlled substance (Schedule I)
  • Dealing a controlled substance (Schedule I)
  • Possession of a controlled substance (Schedule II)

Klepinger has been preliminary charged with:

  • Dealing marijuana
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of a controlled substance (Schedule I)
  • Dealing a controlled substance (Schedule I)
  • Possession of a controlled substance (Schedule II)

Marshall has been preliminary charged with:

  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of hash oil

Dyson and Scott have been preliminary charged with:

  • Possession of marijuana

These arrests come just days after six others were taken into custody in Lafayette during a separate drug bust.
