Wet weather returns this weekend

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Mid spring-like temperatures look to continue this weekend, but with the warmer air comes the threat of a few showers and even some thunderstorms.

The system which has brought severe flooding in portions of Louisiana and Arkansas, will finally move way from the Gulf Coast, and shift to the central Plains and Midwest.

Ahead of this system, a few light showers will try to surge northward into central Indiana. For much of the day, a few isolated showers will be possible, but also many dry hour across the area, especially north of I-70. Highs should top out in the low to mid 60s.

As the larger system moves closer to the state, rain chances should increase later Saturday evening into Sunday. Widespread rain, with a few rumbles of thunder are likely for all of central Indiana as we close out the weekend.

Most areas will likely see anywhere between 0.25″ to 0.50″ of rainfall this weekend, but locally higher amounts are possible for areas that get under a thunderstorm or two.

More rain on the way for the first half next week, including thunderstorm chances both Monday and Tuesday.
