SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – Many say that the start of the Indy 500 is the most exciting part of the greatest spectacle in racing.

The start of the race has even featured some famous honorary starters responsible for waving the green flag. Those have included, Reggie Miller, Peyton Manning, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mark Cuban and Patrick Dempsey.

In 2010 actor Jack Nicholson took to the flag stand, waved the green flag and reportedly enjoyed his view so much he wanted to stay on that flag stand after the race started.
