INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Officials from the NCAA says it is trying to figure out who leaked a photo of this year’s tournament bracket before the Selection Sunday special was over.

At first it was hard for coaches and players to believe the leaked bracket that was all over Twitter was accurate. By the end of the selection show last night it became clear someone had definitely leaked the info.

The NCAA had this to say about it. “We go through great lengths to prevent the tournament field from being revealed early and the NCAA took its usual measures to protect this from happening. Unfortunately, and regrettably, the bracket was revealed prior to our broadcast partners having the opportunity to finish unveiling it. We take this matter seriously and we are looking into it.”

The bracket coming out early ruined much of the suspense for teams. Saint Mary’s, San Diego State and Monmouth were on the cut list for the committee, but teams like Syracuse and Butler are heading to the tournament.

24-Hour News 8 asked Butler head coach Chris Holtmann and some players about it.

“Someone once told me don’t believe everything you see on the internet,” said Holtmann. “Then when you looked at it and it was matched up you said well this was kind of right. It took a little bit of the suspense out.”

Players seemed not to care about how they found out.

“It was a relief, the quicker I know the better I feel,” said Senior Kellen Dunham. “I was glad my teammates were able to find out so quick so I could stop worrying.”

Coach Holtmann said he didn’t get too excited before his team was announced on TV.

The action starts Tuesday with two play-in games.
