Butler seniors not ready to end their Bulldog careers

RALEIGH, N.C. (WISH) — Veteran leadership from seniors Kellen Dunham and Roosevelt Jones has helped get the Butler Bulldogs to the NCAA tournament. Butler practiceThey’ll meet Texas Tech Thursday afternoon at 12:30 in Raleigh.

Keeping their emotions in check and their focus on the task is critical.

“I know what I need to do,” said Jones. “My team needs me to lead and keep everyone involved. I’m not ready to be finished, and if I can do that, we should be okay.”

Dunham agreed.

“We’ve gotten this far, and I don’t need to change anything. Keeping us together will help us advance,” Dunham said.

Then there’s senior Austin Etherington, a Hamilton Heights native and Indiana University transfer. After two serious surgeries, he’s also at the end of his career, but finally contributing in a big way. Entering his first on-court tournament experience has put big smile on his face.

“I thought senior day was great. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to finish. This is just great, especially coming through everything,” Etherington said.

Adding a few victories would make it all sweeter.
