One dead after shooting on east side of Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – One person is dead and another was injured after a shooting early Wednesday morning.
Police say it happened near 20th Street and Wallace Avenue around 3:45 a.m.
Both victims were taken to the hospital.
One of the victims has been identified as 33-year-old Clifford Brown Jr. He died at the hospital.
The second victim has been identified as 38-year-old Carl Stevenson of Fishers. He is currently in good condition. According to police, he suffered a graze wound.
The circumstances behind the shooting were unclear. A description on the suspect was not released by police as of Wednesday morning.
A neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified, told 24-Hour News 8 that it sounded like 16 shots rang out.
“I was half awoke and heard gunshots and I was just shocked at how many shots were fired. It’s like they had a 16-round clip and they emptied every shot,” said the neighbor. “It seems like everybody resorts to gun play. It seems like an easy answer, but it’s always a terrible outcome.”
Police say there is no suspect information available as of Wednesday morning.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
