Indiana Blood Center in desperate need of O blood donors

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indiana’s Blood Center says it is in desperate need of type O blood.

The center says spring break travel, the Zika outbreak and a national effort to provide blood to Puerto Rico are a few reasons for the short supply.

On Thursday, Indiana Blood Center held the first of five blood drives to help rebuild the supply. The bloodmobile was at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

There are four more blood drives scheduled through Sunday, including one the Indianapolis Pacers are holding on Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Check out the complete list below:

  • Community Westview Hospitals in the blood mobile on Friday from 1 to 3:45 p.m.
  • Brownsburg Community at 470 E. Northfield Drive in the Fire Territory Room on Friday from 2 to 7 p.m.
  • Pacers Blood Drive on the concourse Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
