Police: Man hiding in bathroom tries to destroy drug evidence

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Lafayette police arrested a man they say was dealing drugs near a gas station close to Interstate 65 and South Street.

After receiving a tip, 35-year-old Ivory Lockett was arrested at a nearby apartment on Red Cloud Trail around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

According to detectives, Lockett was found hiding in a bathroom. They said he had attempted to destroy evidence by trying to flush it down the toilet.

Officers said they found marijuana, baggies and a gun that was later found to be stolen from Chicago.

Lockett was arrested and taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail. He faces preliminary charges of dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of a stolen firearm and being a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm.
