Tip leads to arrest in Lafayette pot operation

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) – A tip lead to the arrest of one person in a Lafayette marijuana grow operation.

According to the Lafayette Police Department, officers were tipped off about possible drug activities in the 1400 block of Johnson Street in Lafayette.

After officers conducted an initial investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the residence.  It was at that time that 49 marijuana plants were seized from the house by authorities. Xanax and steroids were also discovered in the house.

One woman was taken into custody, 37-year-old Danielle Marie Richardson.  She faces several preliminary charges including two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of marijuana and other charges as well.

The Indiana State Police and the University Police Department assisted in the investigation.

Police say that this is still an ongoing investigation and more arrests are possible.
