Butler loves the underdog role

RALEIGH, N.C. (WISH) — Butler will meet top Midwest seed Virginia as an underdog when they battle at PNC Arena in Raleigh on Saturday, but then again, that’s the way they like it.

“I’ve been an underdog my entire life, said senior guard Rose Jones. “We enjoy it, we take it for what it’s worth. Nobody thinks we can win and that’s fine.”

“That’s part of us,” added coach Chris Holtmann.”That’s been our history in the tournament, and it’s worked out pretty well. We know we’re facing one of the best teams in the nation, and our guys will bring their hard hats in what should be a physical, low-scoring game.”

“The pressure should be on them,” added senior Austin Etherington. “What’s the line? We are playing with house money.”

The Bulldogs and Cavaliers tip at 7:10 p.m. in Raleigh’s PNC Arena Saturday.
