Man headed to work arrested for driving under the influence

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – One person was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence in Bartholomew County.

According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, an officer responded to a call for a vehicle stuck in a ditch just after 2 a.m. Friday

After arriving on scene, it was discovered the driver, 24-year-old Zachary Perry of Columbus had crashed his vehicle on his way to work.

During the officer’s initial investigation, the smell of alcohol was present.  Perry also appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Police go on to say that Perry confessed to drinking earlier in the day, but that he thought he was sober enough to get behind the wheel and head to work.

Perry is being held on $5,000 bond.
