Stolen car crashes into Beech Grove home, police searching for driver

BEECH GROVE, Ind. (WISH) – Police are searching for answers after someone crashed a stolen van into a home, drove away and ditched the car in another neighborhood.

The crash happened just before 11 p.m. Friday on Pearlbush Lane in Beech Grove. No injuries were reported.

John Thurman said he was recovering from a knee surgery at his daughter’s house when he heard a noise a few doors down.

“It was like a loud boom, like an explosion,” Thurman said. “It could have been a small aircraft, as loud as it was.”

Tire marks in the grass show the driver sped through a yard between several homes.

Police found the van ditched about two miles away on the 200 block of N. 6th Ave.

“We can’t tolerate that kind of activity around here,” Thurman said. “We have kids and grandkids and stuff like that.”

Thurman said the reason he stayed on Pearlbush Lane was to get some peace and quiet with family.

He shared a message for the driver.

“Get a life, man. It’s too bad out here not to have a life. You need a life.”

Anyone with information on the case can call Beech Grove Police at 317-782-4949.
