Chilly start to Spring

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Spring has officially arrived in central Indiana! That’s the good news. The bad news is that temperatures Sunday won’t reflect the arrival of the new season.

Early morning temperatures started off below freezing for many, especially north of Indianapolis.

Some lingering showers have also hung around south of Indy, as a pesky upper level system continues to work south through the state Sunday morning.

Rain will stay south of the I-70 this morning, and should work out of central Indiana by mid to late morning.

For the rest of central Indiana, expect a mix of sun and clouds, with highs only topping out in the mid 40s. The average high in Indianapolis for this date is 54 degrees.

Temperatures will remain below average on Monday. Warmer and windy conditions are expected to arrive Tuesday and Wednesday, as temperatures return to the 60s.

We expect a chance of showers and storms to arrive on Thursday, with potential for heavy rain across parts of central Indiana.
