ISP: Drugs likely a factor in crash that killed 2 Grant County women

WABASH COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) Authorities are investigating a crash that killed two people in Wabash County. Police say evidence at the scene showed that drugs may have been a factor.

According to Indiana State Police Trooper Michael Biggs, around 10 p.m. Saturday, for unknown reasons, an SUV went left of center and crashed head-on into another SUV.

Biggs said the first SUV, driven by Emily Bowyer, 27, of Wabash County was headed north on State Road 15, about half a mile north of County Road 900 S.

Bowyer’s vehicle hit the SUV carrying three people from Grant County: Philip Stephenson, 70, Sharon Stephenson, 67, and Barbara Dryer, 69. Investigators said Dryer was pronounced dead at the scene and the Stephensons were transported to a Fort Wayne Hospital. Police said Sharon Stephenson died from her injuries Sunday morning.

According to police, based on evidence at the scene, it is believed that drugs may have played a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
