Prayer vigil held for grandmother gunned down on front porch

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A vigil was held Monday evening for a mother of five shot and killed on her front porch last week.

Nerva Singleton was returning home when she was shot outside the home in the 5600 block of Dobbs Ferry Drive that she shared with her children and grandchild.

Family and friends came together Monday to pray and remember the 40-year-old.

“This is part of the grieving process, just coming out to cry with them to share love and hugs and let them know that they are loved,” Great Commission Church of God Pastor Malachi Walker said. “And in spite of the loss of their mom, their mom has gone on to a better place.”

No arrests have been made in the murder.

Police are asking for the public’s help. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
