Carmel woman involved in Tippecanoe County crash

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Power has been restored to traffic signals on South River Road after a car struck an electric pole earlier Tuesday afternoon.

The 1500 block in Tippecanoe County was closed in from about 12:30 p.m. to after 5:30 p.m. as crews made repairs.

Deputies said the driver, 66-year-old Leslie Gardner of Carmel, missed a curve after she looked away from the road. When she looked up, she ran off the road and struck a Duke Energy utility pole causing downed power lines.

Gardner was not injured.

Detour routes are in place for drivers. From the west, take South Newman Road, also known as South 300 West. From the east, drivers can use U.S. 231.

Officials say power is also out for residents living nearby.
