Red Cross celebrates everyday heroes through blood drive

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive in honor of local fire, police and EMS professionals during National Red Cross Month.

The theme will be “Not all Heroes Wear Capes.” The Red Cross is celebrating these everyday heroes and invites the public to give blood in their honor.

According to the release, they are seeking 100 donors and each donor will receive a free t-shirt.

“For 100 years the mission of the Red Cross has been made possible in Indiana by generous volunteers who gave of themselves to help others in need,” said Chad Priest, CEO for the Red Cross Indiana Region. “Police officers, firefighters and EMS workers have been our closest partners in the community for a century, and we invite the community to join us in honoring and thanking them this month.”

The drive will be held on Tuesday at 1510 North Meridian Street.

The Red Cross provides blood to more than 80 hospitals in the area.

550 blood donations are needed per day to supply each hospital. For more information click here.
