USPS mailman arrested for false report of being held at gunpoint

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service after he falsely told deputies he was held at gunpoint while making a delivery.

Aaron Michael Green told investigators he was making a delivery to a home in the southeastern part of the county around 5:30 p.m. Monday. He claimed the package was too big to fit in the mailbox, so he had to bring it to the front door.

Green then said the homeowner greeted him armed with a shotgun and pointed it at him for about 15 minutes while they both stood on the front porch.

After both the sheriff’s office and the United State Postal Inspection Service investigated, it was determined Green had filed a false report and never had a gun pointed at him.

He was arrested for a preliminary charge of false informing.
