Officials hold car seat safety event in light of recent crash

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Lawrence Police are partnering with St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital to raise awareness for infant car seat safety.

Police say they wanted to partner for the event in light of the recent deadly crash on Pendleton Pike that took the life of a one-year-old boy and his father on March 8.

The event took place on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the St Vincent Fishers campus, located at 13861 Olio Rd in Fishers.

“Lawrence Police is honored to partner with St Vincent in focusing on infant car seat safety. Critical, life-saving information for new parents is crucial to ensure a child’s safety should a crash occur. Age appropriate and properly installed infant car seats save lives,” said Lawrence Police Chief David Hofmann.

Technicians had several varieties of car seats to demonstrate.
