Victim of fatal shooting found dead in alleyway

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A person was found dead in an alley on the city’s near northwest side on Thursday.

The victim was found in an alley off of West Roache Street just before 8:30 a.m. That’s near West 27th and Martin Luther King Jr. streets.

Police say they were called to the area after someone found a body in the alley. The individual was driving home when they noticed the body. They attempted to render aid, but realized that the male victim was dead.

According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials, the victim was dead from an apparent gunshot wound. They say the victim was a black male in his late 30s to early 40s.

It’s not clear how long the victim had been dead.

Police didn’t have a suspect description and were asking for the public’s help. Anyone one with information should contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
