Suspect wanted in connection to string of vehicle break-ins arrested in Illinois

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WISH) – Police in Illinois have arrested a man wanted in connection to a string of vehicle break-ins in Hamilton and Marion County.

According to the Carmel Police Department, 25-year-old Andre Smith was arrested by the Champaign County Sheriff’s Department for theft and burglary to a vehicle on March 13.

In addition to the break-ins in the local area, Smith has also used several stolen credits cards from the vehicles.

After he was apprehended, police in Illinois discovered pieces of stolen property in Smith’s possession belonging to victims in Carmel.

The Carmel Police Department said that their detectives have worked closely with the investigators in Champaign County in Illinois.
