March Against the Madness hopes to stomp out violence

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Using March Madness as a platform, dozens of community members came together Saturday to protest crime.

The March Against the Madness event was made up of church members, community leaders and residents who say they are tired of all the senseless killings.

The march began at 25th Street and Sherman Drive and went about three miles to Douglas Park.

Organizers say murders tend to happen more often in warmer weather. They hope coming together now will put a dent in the homicide rate.

Unity was also a theme of the march.
