Moped driver dies after Noblesville crash

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A moped driver died after a crash Friday night in Noblesville.

It happened around 9:15 p.m. at Watson Boulevard and Greenfield Avenue.

Witnesses told police a Dodge Charger was heading north on Watson Boulevard when it pulled into the path of a moped eastbound on Greenfield Avenue.

The moped driver, 54-year-old Terry A. Schippers of Noblesville, was transported to a Fishers hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was not wearing a helmet, police say.

The driver of the Dodge, 21-year-old Darius T. Butler of Noblesville, appeared to be attempting to turn westbound on Greenfield Avenue when the vehicles collided, police say.

Butler was not hurt. Neither vehicle was carrying passengers.

Greenfield Avenue traffic was slow in the area for about three hours as crews responded to the crash.
