Church gives away free gas to hundreds of drivers

COLUMBUS, Ga.(WRBL) – One gas station had traffic backed up on Saint Mary’s Road in Columbus, Georgia. New Destiny Church provided free gas for drivers on Saturday.

Church members pumped gas for 300 to 400 cars at the Marathon gas station. Dominique Pickett was one of those drivers who got free gas. She says not worrying about paying for this gas week is very helpful.

“I don’t have to sit here and worry about coming up with gas money to get around and I don’t have to worry about coming up with gas money to go look for a job,” Pickett said.

The gas giveaway lasted for several hours. This is the third year New Destiny has put free gas in cars. The church raised the money to buy gas through donations from its members.
