Police departments from across the nation honor Koontz

HOWARD COUNTY, Ind.  (WISH) – Hundreds of police departments from across the nation were in attendance at Howard County Deputy Carl Koontz’ funeral on Tuesday.

Officers from the New York Police Department stood guard for Koontz.

Crowds of over 2,000 people arrived in Howard County to pay their respects. The bleachers of Northwestern High School were filled in the gym and in the overflow room for the service.

Other departments, including Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Porter County, Bedford, Munster, Butler University Police Department and several department from Illinois.

Koontz died while serving while serving a warrant early Sunday morning. He leaves behind a wife, Kassandra, and young son, Noah.
