Fatal crash closes parts of Madison Avenue

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – One person was killed after two SUVs crashed early Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a crash on Madison Avenue and Stop 11 Road around 7:15 a.m.

Police say one person has died as a result of the crash. Another person was taken to the hospital.

According to police, the two SUVs crashed head on. They say that a blue SUV was driving southbound on Madison and a green SUV was northbound. The green SUV crossed the center line and crashed head on into the blue SUV.

The driver of the blue SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the green SUV was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in serious condition.
