Social media helps catch a thief in Speedway

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – Business owners in Speedway say a thief has been caught thanks to social media.

Last week, former Indianapolis 500 driver Sarah Fisher spread pictures of man on her social media accounts and her business’ accounts, Speedway Indoor Karting.

She said that the man was caught on surveillance footage supposedly stealing a computer.

Fisher offered a $1,000 reward for anyone with information.

Staff at Speedway Indoor Karting say about a dozen tips came in quickly after the social media campaign.

The tips helped Speedway police locate the suspect.
