Rensselaer woman accused of sexual misconduct with a minor

JASPER COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A Rensselaer woman is behind bars Wednesday after she is arrested under allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor.

According to 24-Hour News 8 sister station, WLFI, after investigating, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28-year-old Jillian Russell.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a rural Rensselaer home Tuesday around 2:30 a.m. and spoke with the victim’s mother, who said her son was under the age of 16 and Russell was visiting her home that night.

The mother told deputies she was woken up Monday around 10:30 p.m. to some type of disturbance between Russell and her child. According to police, the mother made Russell leave due to the “tumultuous activity and ongoing noise.”

It was only after Russell left that the victim’s mother learned some type of sexual contact had occurred.

During investigative interviews, deputies claim the victim admitted to engaging in sexual contact with Russell on two occasions in the home after everyone had gone to bed. According to detectives, Russell also admitted to having sexual intercourse with the child.

Russell was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Law Enforcement Detention Center where she is being held without bond. She has been preliminarily charged with sexual misconduct with a minor.
