Teams arrive for Women’s Final Four

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The women’s national semifinalists arrived in town Thursday ahead of the Final Four at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Syracuse was the first time to arrive around 2 p.m. Thursday. The fourth-seeded squad from the ACC advanced to the Final Four by knocking off Tennessee in the Regional Final. Coach Quentin Hillsman hopes the magic continues when the Orange meet Washington Sunday night.

Later in the afternoon, the three-time defending champ Connecticut Huskies pulled up to their team hotel.

UConn is making its second appearance in an Indianapolis Final Four. Legendary coach Geno Auriemma knows that with a record-setting fourth consecutive title possibly on the horizon, the pressure is on to perform.

“Now that it’s right here, obviously that’s at the forefront of our players lives,” said Auriemma. “They know what’s at stake and that there are no guarantees and everybody knows that. There are three other teams here that have a say about that that. We have a chance to do something no one has ever done and that’s pretty exciting.”

UConn meets Oregon State in the first semifinal at 6 p.m. Sunday, with Washington and Syracuse to follow in the nightcap.
