UCONN women reach for history

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — They’ve won 72 consecutive games, and the senior class has yet to lose in the NCAA tournament, but there are critics who says UCONN’S unparalleled success is bad for the game.

“They only say that because it’s women basketball,” said senior guard Moriah Jefferson. “If it was men’s basketball, or football nobody would say that. We work really hard, and we’re not going to play down to another level, we’re bringing everyone else’s level up.”

“The TV ratings are up, so we’re doing something right,” added fellow senior all-america forward Breanna Stewart. “I think the game is gaining momentum, and people want to watch good basketball, and we play the game right.”

Stewart, Tuck and the rest and also ready to add another first in the sport. winning a 4th straight national title at Bankers Life Fieldhouse Tuesday night.

“There’s a lot of pressure, always is,” said senior guard Moriah Jefferson. “But we’ve been through this before, and we can handle it. It’s been a great run, and we don’t want it to end.”

Championships are great, UConn’s been there, but these Huskies are all about history. They expect to get it done.
