New York 911 dispatcher helps fellow police officer, wife deliver baby

WATERVLIET, NY (NEWS10) – It was no early April Fool’s Day prank as an impatient baby girl decided she couldn’t wait to be delivered. Mom and dad were forced to make a quick delivery while on the way to the hospital.

Brian and Crystle Murray’s Chevy Equinox doubled as a delivery room Wednesday morning when their little baby girl decided she could not wait to be born.

Crystle Murray told News10ABC she thought she was simply experiencing Braxton Hicks early Wednesday morning. But by the time she and her husband hit the road to the hospital, it was too late.

Murray realized she already went into labor. However, she was in good hands.

Crystle’s husband, Army National Guardsman and Watervliet Patrolman Brian Murray, snapped into action. He pulled over in the city of Watervliet and that was when their Chevy Equinox became a makeshift delivery room.

“You know she’s coming,” said Crystle Murray.

“And I’m saying don’t push,” said Brian Murray.

“And I’m saying you don’t understand, I can’t not push. It’s not in my control,” said Crystle Murray.

“She show’s me her head, started to exit the womb, then it was on from there,” said Brian Murray.

After their baby girl Kendall was born, Brian called 911. A dispatcher he knows through work talked him through what they had to do next.

Brian said he was also relieved to see some familiar faces as EMT’s with the Watervliet Fire Department arrived.

The Murray’s already have a son and they said this story will go down in their family history.
