DNK Presents announces Women’s Adventure Contest winners!

A big “congratulations” is in store for Kelsey Steuer!! She’s one of the contest winners for DNK Presents and was nominated by one of her co-workers. Kelsey will soon be living off the grid for a weekend, disconnecting from technology, reconnecting with themselves and the outdoors. Experiencing adventures such as backpacking, paddle boarding, hiking, mountain biking and other surprises along the way.

When DNK Presents called to tell her she was a winner, Kelsey didn’t even know she was nominated! Here is the bio Kelsey submitted:

Born and raised in the Hoosier State, I am a proud North Central and IU alumni. By day, you can find me at Launch Fishers or working remotely at one of the local coffee shops for Enterprise Strategies as the Community Manager- an Indy based boutique consulting firm specializing in digital transformation and enterprise social. By night, you usually won’t be able to find me because I am babysitting or pet sitting for what seems to be the entire greater Metropolitan area of Indianapolis. In my free time, I enjoy kickin’ it with the two of best friends- my grandmas (they are both named Judy- how cute!!!). My grandmas are my favorite travel companions, life advisors, and all around just amazing women. My younger brother Sam is the person who inspires me the most. In the Spring, I am on the Rugby field volunteering as an assistant coach for the North Central Girls Rugby team and the Washington Township Middle School Girls Rugby team. I recently began volunteering with the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention-Indiana Chapter and am looking forward to the Out of Darkness Walk this September in Indianapolis. I am a true believer in reframing bad days into “plot twists.” I keep Land O’ Lakes in business with my love for baking, I am known for watching TedTalks when I should be working, and I have perfected the skill of blurting out ridiculous facts I find on the internet at inappropriate times.

Here is what Kelsey’s co-worker said about her:

Selfless-this is the first word that comes to mind when I think of my colleague and good friend, Kelsey. Unfortunately, she has faced a lot of sadness in her life. Despite the challenging hand she has been dealt, Kelsey is nothing but generous and kind to everyone she meets. In an age when people are focused on selfies and spend more time on Instagram than talking to each other, Kelsey constantly looks outward and shares incredible love and compassion for others.

She spent half a year in Africa volunteering at schools for underprivileged children-and still sends money to help families regularly. When close friends lost a family member in a student tragic accident, she dropped everything to babysit, bring food, run errands-even making small gifts to cheer up everyone on tough holidays. Kelsey lost her father to suicide when she was very young and-showing courage beyond her age-this year she raised thousands of dollars to increase awareness for suicide prevention. I lost count of the number of times she has brought my favorite chocolates to work because I had a bad day-or brought treats for other businesses near us just because.

Kelsey spends so much time taking care of other people that she often overlooks taking care of herself. Of all the women that I know, she is most deserving of an adventure-to reward her, to inspire her, and to strengthen her. What I love most about nominating Kelsey is knowing that if she wins she will freely share everything she learns and gains from this adventure with others, just like she always has.
