NY high school student feeding the world one meal at a time

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo New York high school student is feeding the world one meal at a time, at least that’s her goal.

With the help of her classmates a Mt. Mercy Academy, she is raising money to feed people all over the world.

Megan Fabian, a senior, is hoping to make a change for so many that go to bed hungry. She has joined the national campaign, “Stop Hunger Now.”

Fabian’s goal is to raise at least $3,000 to package over 10,000 meals. Each meal costs 29 cents to package and they will be sent to schools and orphanages in third world countries.

After she raises the necessary funds, Fabian will host a meal packing event at her high school, along with 50 other student volunteers.

She said this campaign is important to her because too many go to bed hungry every single day and she wants to change that.

“One in nine people go to bed hungry every single night and I think that’s something we can actually make a difference, we can change that and I think that’s really important for people to see that by donating you’re changing so many lives and your impacting all these people who don’t know when their next meal is coming from,” said Fabian.

The meal packaging event is scheduled for May 2 at Mt. Mercy Academy. If she exceeds her donation goals, she’ll package even more meals.
