VERSAILLES, Ind. (AP) — Indiana State Police say a vehicle crash has killed three people near Versailles.

Indiana State Police Sergeant Stephen Wheeles says the triple-fatality crash happened about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday near U.S. 50 and 300 West in Ripley County in southeastern Indiana. The identities of the victims weren’t immediately released pending notification of family.

Police are asking motorists to avoid the scene. Wheeles says a commercial motor vehicle involved in the crash was carrying drywall that spilled onto the roadway. Crews are beginning to remove the debris and vehicles from the scene.

Versailles is about 50 miles west of Cincinnati.
