Shelby County Sheriff’s Department warns of recent phone scam

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Shelby County are warning residents about a recent phone scam going around.

According to police, the caller will say they work for the local law enforcement agency. The caller then demands money for a warrant that has been issued for your arrest. They then say if you don’t pay a deputy will come to your home and arrest you.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department said that no law enforcement agency in Indiana will call your home and demand money for any reason.
