Rain and wind return Wednesday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Get ready for a wet day across central Indiana, Wednesday. A system moving in from the Plains will bring light rain to much of the area by mid to late morning.

In the afternoon, more widespread rain, with the potential for heavy downpours and a few thunderstorms will be possible. Steady rain will move out by late Wednesday night, with lingering showers hanging around through the overnight hours.

Winds will pick up as the system moves into the state. Gusts between 25-35 mph will be possible from late morning through early evening.

Despite the lack of sunshine, temperature should warm up to near normal levels for this time of year, topping out in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Much colder air moves in Thursday and Friday, which could lead to a mix of rain and snow showers both days.
