HOWE, Ind. (WANE) – A mother and daughter are accused of beating up a woman Wednesday evening and then driving away from the area with a fake license plate, according to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department.

According to investigators, deputies investigated a possible battery at 6440 North 850 East, Howe, around 7 p.m.

Deputies said their investigation led them to a mother and daughter, Lisa and Samantha Goodman. Police said Joseph Goodman, the son and brother of the Goodman women, called them after he got into an argument with his girlfriend and asked for them to pick up him.

A sheriff’s department report stated that the Goodman women battered Joseph’s girlfriend and then left in a vehicle that had a homemade cardboard license plate.

Sheriff deputies and the LaGrange Police Department made a traffic stop on the Goodman’s vehicle near State Road 120 and County Road 100 East. Investigators said Lisa and Samantha admitted to the physical altercation.

Both are expected to be charged with battery of a family member in the presence of a minor. Investigators also issued citations for driving while suspended, false and fictitious plates, and no proof of financial responsibility.

Police have not said if the girlfriend was injured.

The incident is under investigation.
