Officer, Pacers help find size 17 shoes for homeless man

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — Size 17 shoes aren’t easy to come by.

A reserve officer with the Lawrence Police Department realized that recently after encountering a homeless man who was in need of a new pair.

The officer said he checked in on the man, who stands near seven-feet-tall, as he frequents the area around Pendleton Pike and I-465.

The officer wanted to get the man a new pair of shoes, as his were torn up and falling apart.

Unable to locate shoes online, the officer decided to reach out to the Indiana Pacers.

The Pacers found a pair that had been made for a former player and donated the shoes to the man.

The officer, who doesn’t want to be identified, also gave him socks and some other essential items.
