VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — A northwestern Indiana man convicted of fatally shooting his wife in the head has been sentenced to 55 years in prison.
A judge sentenced 36-year-old Steven Lindsey of rural Valparaiso Friday after he was convicted of murder last month in the January 2015 death of 23-year-old Melinda Lindsey.
The (Munster) Times reports Lindsey declined to comment at the sentencing except to say he planned to appeal. He has denied he killed his wife and said the couple was attacked in a home invasion.
Prosecutors have alleged Lindsey shot his wife in the head as she lay in because he feared she would leave him.
