NASHVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A self-described white supremacist who says he attacked an 18-year-old student because she was Asian has been found not competent to stand trial.

Dana Ericson is accused of attacking a female Chinese exchange student.

On Monday, a court ruled Ericson was not competent to stand trial “at this time.”

He will be sent to a mental health facility.

The student had a cut to her back two inches long, court documents say. Doctors estimated the hatchet came just an inch from the teen’s spine.

Ericson said, ”I am going to kill to you,” to the student after the attack, police say. The FBI told 24-Hour News 8 that its office was investigating the incident.
