Forget the car, Portland owner wants his dog back

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Bill Robbins said he’s worried sick about his dog, Kona.

Kona, a Great Dane-Lab mix, was inside Robbins’ car in his work parking lot at Sweet Leaf Illusions in Portland last Thursday when he said someone stole the car and the dog.

At this point, he doesn’t care about his car. He just wants Kona back.

Robbins left Kona in the car when he ran into the store to grab some deposits. The air conditioning was on and the car was running.

Surveillance video shows a man walking over, getting into the car and driving off.

He said he checked local shelters, but there’s no sign of the dog. Friends and family are reaching out through social media hoping someone has seen him.

Robbins hopes Kona was just let out somewhere, but his fear is the car – a black Hyundai with an Oregon-Crater Lake license plate CA-48421 – was abandoned with Kona inside.

Because there is no police report, KOIN 6 News is not showing the alleged thief’s face.

But Robbins is pleading with the public to keep an eye out for Kona.

“I mean, he’s my family. He’s my dog,” he said. “Just kind of wanting my dog back.”
