Hundreds of celebrities attend Indy 500 every year

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Hundreds of celebrities have attended the Indianapolis 500 over the years. Indy 500 contributor Laura Steele spoke with track historian Donald Davidson about those celebrities.

Fans like Carol Burnett, Clark Gable, Michael Douglas, Collin Powell and hundreds more have shown up for the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”

Davidson shared one particular story about Jack Nicholson while he was in town.

“Jack Nicholson would not get off the flag stand when he waved the green flag,” said Davidson.
