Video shows suspect stealing ring from corpse in funeral home

ODESSA, Texas (KXAN) – Odessa police are searching for a suspect captured on surveillance video stealing a ring from a deceased woman at a funeral home.

April 8, around 5:30 p.m. the suspect is seen entering the Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. The female suspect enters the room, walks over to the body and takes the ring right off the dead woman’s hand. The suspect then flees from the scene in a maroon four-door Saturn.

Investigators describe the suspect as a heavy set female, wearing a long brown sleeve sweater, black sweat pants, and black sandals. Police are treating the case as a state jail felony.

Currently no arrests have been made as investigators continue to search for the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.
